Lake Piru is a clean and dry Lake. This means that they expect your boat to be clean and dry from top to bottom. They enforce these rules by inspecting every boat before it enters the park. If you are not clean and dry or have been on Quagga infested water you will be 1: quarantined from the lake for a certain amount of time. 2: You will pass inspection and be allowed to go on the lake or 3: you will not pass boat inspection and be turned away for a certain amount of time and then be re inspected by the lake staff.
As far as the Feb 25th., Top Stick Tour event to be held at Lake Piru this is what will happen in the morning before we have the boat launch. Many of you who will be fishing will have practiced on the lake and will have your boat cabled as you leave the lake. This will make our boat inspections very easy since all that will need to be done is for us to cut your cable and your boat is ready to launch. If you were unable to get your boat cabled part of our staff has been trained to do the proper boat inspection. John Barron and myself have been trained by the D.F.G. as well as U.S. Fish and Wildlife in the proper way to inspect a boat. We will be ready with all the Lake forms to inspect your boat. Please make sure you are clean and dry and you will have a great day on the water since fishing right now at Piru is some of the best in Southern California.
We have been given permission by the lake staff to get in early The trailer will be there at aprox. 4:00 a.m. on Sat.. We will be going in on the left side of the Kiosk as you pull up to the main gate. You will then go to the launch area and stop at the next gate where your Park fees will be collected. It is 10.00 per vehicle and 10.00 for boat launch. Your total will be 20.00 to be paid to the person waiting at the gate as you go to the launch ramp. Once inside you will park your boat near the trailer and either John or I will be doing all boat inspections. While we do boat inspections 1 of the team members will be able to go and sign you up for the tournament. Since this is the first one of the season you will also be paying your yearly membership so please be prepared to take care of both at this time.
Make sure you check back to see if any of these protocols have changed. We will update information as neccesary.
